SERBIA HARD PRESSED.
LONDON, October 13. Telegrams from Nish show the need of
the swiftest action. The pressure is very great on both the Serbian fronts, and particularly in the Morava Valley. It is suggested that the Russians, instead of using Varna, may bring troops to the Danubo, w'hich is an international waterway, or through Rumania via Dobnulja. Athens telegrams report a fresh Bulgarian offensive at Zaichar, 25 miles northeast of Kniazhevatz. The Serbians repulsed the attack. GERMAN OFFICIAL REPORT. LONDON, October 13. To-day’s Berlin communique claims that the Serbians’ resistance was only able to slightly hold up the forward movement. The attack on Rozarevac, 35 miles southeast of Belgrade, is continuing most favourably. AUSTRIAN CLAIMS. AMSTERDAM, October 13. An Austrian communique states : The Austro-Hungarian troops advancing from Belgrade stormed Ligar mountain, eastward of the town, and the Landon entrenchments, capturing three guns. All the heights round Belgrade commanding the river crossings are now in possession of the Austro-Germans.
