MARINE TRAGEDY
ADELAIDE, July 9.
Om the arrival of the German liner Oberhausen it was reported that chief steward Stadlal had disappeared after leaving Fremantle. Subsequently one of the crew was arrested and placed in irons. It is alleged that he had a disagreement with the chief steward, and felled him wdth a beer bottle, the body afterwards being thrown overboard. As the tragedy occurred on a foreign vessel on the high seas the police here are unable to take any action. It is proposed to send the man arrested to Germany for trial.
