“CALCUTTA, July 11. A series of meetings has been inaugurated under the auspices of the Indian Association to assert the rights of Indians as British subjects. One speaker asserted that the colonies had declared war against Indians, and it was impossible for the latter to be patriotic citizens of tlife. Empire. The Indian Councils Bill had been rejected by the House of Lords because the inclusion of Indians in the Council was an eyesore to the English people.
