BALLS AND WEDDINGS.
TELEGRAPH AND TELEPHONE OFFICERS’ BALL. The telegraph and telephone officers’ second annual ball was held on Friday evening in the Victoria Hall. There was a good attendance of officers and friends. Messrs Romeril and Kerr rendered solos, which were well received. The decorations by Mr J. M'Grath were very effective, and the music by M'Donald’s band of four instruments was right up to date, and aissistecl materially to a thoroughly enjoyable evening. The catering, which was in the capable hands of Mr Kroon, left nothing to be desired. Some of the ladies present were: —Miss Hall, white satin, lace tunic with crimson velvet trimmings; Miss F. Belcher, black velvet caught up with wreath of pink roses, spangled ninon and pink roses on corsage and sleeves; Miss M'Kellar, gold satin ; Miss Elma Dawes, champagne charmeuse, with an overdress of white ninon relieved with black velvet; Miss N. Woolsey, champagne flowered ninon over champagne charmeuse, with gold spangled net trimming; Miss J. Galloway, nuttier blue ninon covered with 'shadow lace over canary charmeuse; Miss E. Blackwood, apricot satin caught with buckle of brown fur, hand of satin with osprey in the hair; Miss E. Long, champagne dress with bodice of shadow lace, tango satin belt, and an osprey on a silver band in the hair Miss Vera Jarman, pale blue merv with an overdress of pineapple gauze, osprey in the hair; Mrs H. G. Turner, grey satin with grey ninon overdress; Miss Doris Turner, cream satin; Miss Ruby Hall, pink merv silk with overdress of ninon; Miss M'Keich, apricot silk voile; Miss Wragge. grey crepe de chine; Miss M‘Kay, flame-coloured satin with overdress of grey ninon; Miss Jowsey, pale blue voile ; Miss Harrison, white crystalline; Miss Sellars, cream crepe de chine with overdress of cream lace; Miss B, Simpson, cream satin with cream lace overdress; Miss E. Shepherd, pink satin with overdress of spangled ninon; Miss Milward, apricot satin with lacs overskirt and touches of fur; Miss I. Sixdo, blue silk with real lace overdress trimmed with ermine; Miss Sheriff, grey silk with overdress of spangled chiffon; Miss De Riscoll cream satin relieved with amber; Miss Caddie, blue crepe do chine trimmed with insertion, old gold belt; Miss Henderson, apricot silk trimmed with silk insertion, black velvet belt; Mrs C. A. Clark, white silk with overdress of tangerine ninon with violets; Miss Green, white voile; Miss M. Anderson, violet satin charmeuse with corsage of shadow net over gold spangles, black tulle belt with Bulgarian buckle; Miss Mabel Peattie, pink satin with Oriental trimming; Mies Alice Wilson, pale pink satin with silver trimmings; Miss Sarah Wilson, pale blue silk with net overdress and bugle trimming; Miss Winnie Francis, pink satin with tunic of shadow lace, blue ninon sash; Miss M'Bride, orange silk with draped tunic of shadow lace; Mrs T. R. Brooks, pale green silk with overdress of spangled floral ninon; Miss C. B. MTntosh, white satin with overdress of black-and-white ninon; Miss Fielding, cream satin with lace coatee; Miss V. Powell, cerise charmeuse with corsage of cream shadow lace; Miss Maud Gunn, blue crepe de chine quaintly trimmed with blue linonne; Miss Eva Watson, pink satin daintly trimmed with white fur. GOLDEN WEDDING. Mr and Mrs William Pryde, of Anderson’s Bay, well known in most parts of Otago, celebrated their golden wedding at their residence on June 1, when there was a large gathering of all their family and descendants and a number of friends. Mr and Mrs Pryde were married on May 31 at Dunedin by the late Rev. Dr Burns. Mr Pryde was born in Fifeshire, Scotland, in March, 1841, and came to New Zealand in the ship Piadda in 1861. Mrs Pryde was born in the County of Galway, Ireland, in December, 1842, and came to New Zealand in 1862. The worthy couple have 11 of a family—six sons and five daughters,—lo of whom are married.
