This course will probably be followed. The Otago v. Southland match will bo played at Invercargill this year. Arrangements have been made to play off the match on September 2. A letter has been received by the' executive from the Canterbury Association stating that it has not yet been decided whether a team will visit the south this year. It is certainly to bo hoped that a Canterbury representative team will make a tour south. It has been the practice for many years for Otago and Canterbury to visit each other alternately. Otago is entitled to a visit this year. The hope is expressed on all sides that the continuity of the arrangements will not be broken. ENGLAND DEFEATS TASMANIA. HOBART, July 13. The English hockey team defeated a team representing Tasmania to-day by_ 12 goals to 1. The visitors’ play was again marked by fine combination and dash. INTERSTATE TOURNEY. SYDNEY, July 12. The Interstate Hookey Tournament was opened yesterday, when South Australia defeated Victoria by V goals to nil.

The recently-arrived English team, though not competing, defeated Now South Wales by 11 goals to 3. The visitors displayed fine combination and skill.
