BRITAIN AND AUSTRIA
VIENNA, December 8. A striking article in the Neueswiener Tageblatt suggests a convention for a fixed number of years of a benevolent neutrality between Great Britain and Austria-Hungary in the event of any Mediterranean conflict, adding that the Austro-Hungarian navy will soon equal the British navy in the Mediterranean. Hence the agreement could be based on the equal mutual value of Austria-Hun-gary’s maritime interests, and consist in guaranteeing her safety in the Adriatic with the free passage of the straits.
