KAITANGATA NOTES.

(From Oub Own Correspondent.) KAIT AN G ATA, December 8. At a meeting of the Wesleyan Church congregation, held on Wednesday evening, a committee was set up to report on the side shows for a bazaar which it is decided to hold some time in March or April. The next meeting was fixed for the 10th hist. Quito a number of buildings are in course of erection in the town, and others are having additions made to them. Several of our local bird fanciers have met with bad luck with their young chickens during the recent cold weather, and, and it is known that one has lost 17, another 22, and another about 60. There appears to be n form of dysentery with which the birds arc attacked. This, combined with the cold weather, soon plays havoc with them. Our local miners are reaping the benefit of the strike to a groat extent, and full time is being worked, which is a most unusual procedure for this time of the year. About 580 tons of coal is being taken daily from both mines at present. The whitebait season is not quite finished vet, several of our residents securing some last week. The weather lately has also been- decidedly against fishermen securing the speckled beauties, but it is to bo hoped that better luck will prevail in the near future. Vital statistics for the month past are: Marriages, 4; deaths, 1; births, 3. Search has been made by the local constable in both branches of the Molyneux River for the body of David Wing, drowned at Bale 1 utha a fortnight ago, but without result.
