PALMERSTON NOTES.

(From Olr Own Correspondent.) PALMERSTON. December 8. The final meeting of the Jubilee Committee was held on Saturday, when the balance sheet was read and passed by the committee. There was a small surplus, which has been divided between the local bands, the Fire Brigade, the School, and charity. Motor oar drivers who disregard the danger signals placed for their guidance do not always escape. This was demonstrated by the driver of a car who was travelling north on Saturday afternoon. The car was travelling at about the rate of 20 miles an hour, and the driver tried to take Day’s corner at Bushev, although there is a danger signal some distance on the south side of this extremely sharp corner. In turning the -car ran into the water table and turned a complete somersault. The wind shield and all the brass work were badly smashed, but the engine was not injured, so the oar was able to go on its way. One of the passengers was slightly cut about the hands, but it is a wonder that no more serious injury happened to the occupants of the car.
