RIVER STEAMER SUNK

NEW YORK, August 20,

A message from Keokuk (Iowa) reports that the river steamer Henry Bosse turned turtle. Fourteen of the crew were imprisoned below the water-line. A heavy storm is raging.

Seven men escaped death, but the other seven were caught in the cabin and drowned like rats. f

The captain was flung into mid-river when the deckhouse parted. As the vessel capsized a man and woman released themselves from under a boat. They reached the surface, but were drowned before the rescuing boats arrived.
