OPPOSITION IN ULSTER. LONDON, August 5. Thirty thousand people welcomed Sir E. Carson at Portrush. He inspected 3000 drilled forces, and the multitude sang : “ Oh God, our Help in Ages Past.” There are rumours that the Government has issued a warrant for Sir E. Carson’s arrest, but the officials deny this. Sir E. Carson declared that if the Government interfered with the constitution which Ulster was about to establish they would meet the interference with determined courage. August 6. Speaking at Portrush Sir E. Carson, K.C., challenged the Government to arrest him. it might issue a warrant, but it dared not execute it. He was prepared to attend at a few hours’ notice and surrender on the behest of the warrant. The committee of the United Irish League at Boston has cabled Mr J. E. Redmond an undertaking to raise £BOOO in support of the Home Rule cause.
