Tho Japanese throughout California are defeating the anti-alien law. They have formed land companies to acquire their lands, thus removing themselves outside the scope of the measure. August 10. Ninety-nine Japanese land companies, with a capital of 2,000.000 dollars, have been authorised as a result of the State Anti-alien Land Bill. August 11. An attempt by some Japanese to evade tho immigration restrictions failed A deserted junk was captured off Point Erinos, and the crew of 15 were found later in the woods.
