COWES REGATTA. KING AND QUEEN PRESENT. WIN FOR THE ROYAL YACHT. LONDON, August 4. Qowes week opened to-day. The Kaiser’s yacht Meteor, with Prince Henry of Prussia on board, is competing. The King’s yacht Britannia won the Gold Cup. Mr G. Harvey Hawker, an Australian, flying with a Sopwith waterplane, greeted their Majesties when they arrived at Cowes in the Royal yacht. The King, who was watching the aviator’s evolutions through a telescope, called the Queen and Princess May to join him on the bridge. Mr Hawker twice alighted on the water, rose easily, and then performed several air tricks, including a final curtsey. He afterwards led the Royal procession into the roads. The Admiralty has since acquired the waterplane. August 5. The White Heather '.von the King’s Cup ■at Cowes regatta, defeating the Kaiser’s yacht Meteor, Margherita, and La Cigale.
