METROPOLITAN TROTTING MEETING. First Day —Monday, August 11.

Indications this morning were not at all promising for the first day of the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club’s August meeting, with which the Grand National Week Carnival opened. However, the rain ceased before the racing commenced, and the weather, though dull, was not unpleasant. Under the circumstances there was a very good attendance, and the track was in very fair order.
