CHARLOTTE BRONTE
LONDON, July 29. The British Museum has acquired four letters written by Charlotte Bronte to Professor Heger, who was Paul Emanuel of “Vilette. ” These prove that the suggested scandal attaching to Charlotte Bronte was untrue. The letters are written in French, and arc dated July and October, 1844, aad January and November, 1845. They display warm gratitude to the professor a I her literature master, together with i. passionate protest against his grudging acceptance of her devotion. The letters suggest that “ Vilette ” was written to justify herself with Professor Heger.
