NEW YORK, July 21. Advices received from Aorari, one of the Gilbert Islands, in the South Seas, announce that Archibald Everett, who is the virtual king, intends abandoning his rulership of the island owing, he alleges, to his numerous native wives rendering him bankrupt through demanding the newest English gowns. Everett will return to America. He was at one time a wealthy American and is eccentric. By means of the use of the phonograph he was adopted as the successor to the kingship of Aorari.
