MAX A WAIL A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.

At the annual meeting of the Manawatu and West Gcast A. and P. Association Mr T. E. Hodder, who presided, sa:d that the inarch had been steadily forward. A splendid exhibition was made at the Spring Show, but even that had been beaten by the Winter Show. Free tickets had been issued to all school children within a radius of fO miles of Palmerston North. The receipts had not been affected, and ho believed the result had been beneficial to the children. Speaking of the Agricultural Department’s exhibit, ho thought it would be a good idea if the Government built a hall of its own, where lectures could be given and the display left for two or three weeks for the edification of farmers. He suggested that they might revive the competition for the best-kept dairy farm. The dairy companies in the district might help in the matter of prizes. The total value of prize-money and trophies this year was £853. • Perhaps the most pleasing feature was the vigorous live membership. After the purging of the roll the number stood at 1364, the largest in the Dominion. The Wheeler. Memorial pavilion had been completed, and ho would say that no finer sheep povil’on would be found in the Dominion. The Agricultural Hall had been extended, and a handsome concrete entrance hall erected. Ho believed every member of the association was proud of the last year’s record, 'i lie receipts had been £2OOO more than in any other year, and improvements to the value of over £2OOO had been effected. They had further to go, however. The old cattle pens should be removed and a pavilion erected, and the Poultry Association should be provided with better accommodation.
