SPRAYING POTATOES.
According to a special note contributed t-o the Chemical Trade Journal, the beneficent use of sulphate of copper in conjunction with soda for spraying potatoes lias been amply justified by the experiments which Mr lilt yd Thomas has carried out at his E'y Farm, Cardiff. lie adopted what is known as the Burgundy mixture, made up with 241 b of copper sulphate (98 per cent, pine) in a powdered condition; 30'b cf pure washing soda, with 120 gallons of water, to the acre. The following, were the comparative results:
Thus there was a difference in eating and smalls of the sprayed over the unsprayed of 3 tons lewt, which at £5 per ton would realise £ls extra per acre at a cost of considerably loss than £1 per acre. The quality of the sprayed potatoes was excellent
