THEFTS FROM SHOP FRONTS.
AUCKLAND. July IT. At the Police Court this morning John Nolan (aged 27) admitted having committed 28 thefts” in the city from the fronts of various shops between May 29 and July 14. The goods taken included two wringers, 12 pairs of boots, 12 coats, and a large number of carpenters’ and plumbers’ tools, the total value being about £26. Accused handed in a written statement in which lie said ho had stolen the goods to buy medicine. lie asked to be given reformative treatment rather than a term in gaol. Mr IT razor. S.M . said that that sort of theft would have to bo stopped, but accused was entitled To be sentenced to a reformatory. He would I' l ' sentenced to reformative treatment for a period not exceeding throe years.
