THE BINGARA TRAGEDY
SYDNEY, April 23. Ball has been sentenced to death for murdering his wife at Bingara in January. April 24. Ball, while being tried for wifa murder, said that his wife was suffering in agony owing to illness. He entered the room, saw her struggling on the floor and foaming at the mouth, she having taken carbolic acid. He then shot her dead, because he pitied her suffering. He says he was convinced she w£U practically dead when he shot her. H* had always loved his wife, and they had never quarrelled. He must have been mad to burn her body. ■■■■ : — 1
