THE SALVATION ARMY
COMMANDANT FOR NEW ZEALAND. MELBOURNE, April 6. A cablegram hae been received from the Salvation Army intimating that the authorities in London have decided to separate New Zealand from Australia, and that Commissioner Richardson, late of South Africa, has been given the leadership of the Army in New Zealand. WELLINGTON, April 6. Commissioner William John Richardson has been appointed as the new Territorial Commander for New Zealand, which from the date of Mr Richardson's arrival will rank as separate territory, and will be responsible to international headquarters at London instead of being, as heretofore part of the Australasian command. Mr Richardson has been for some time in command of the whole of South Africa so he has had considerable colonial experience. He will have his headquarters at Wellington, where a headquarters building is being negotiated for.
