Mr J. M'Gregor, of th>.' Otago Foundry, is spending much of liis time at King-ton in superintending the finisliine of the new steamer Earnslaw. The boilers and engines have l>eeri put in position, the heavy lifts giving no trouble, and carpenters are now ut work on the decking. An Oamaru fisherman catlgnt two salmon at the mouth of the Waitaki River on Saturday, one weighing 101 b and the other 3lb. The 101 b fish is one of the largest that has been taken at this river for some time. As a matter of faot, very few have been taken during the past year or two.
