Bran and pollard, Is 3d. OAMARU STOCK MARKET. CFBOU OtJB OWJf COBBESPOWDEirr.) OAMARU, April 6. No business is reported in the stock market in the way of private sales, but the result of the weekly market indicates a revival in the demand for sheep particularly. There was a big yarding, chiefly composed of ewes, and anything of quality sold readily. Two-tooth ewes brought up to 18s 4d, but for some of poorer quality as low as 15s was touched. Fo.ir and six-tooth ewes made 17s 6d and others relative values. Fat wethers are still worth about 18s for prime, and fat lambs suitable- for freezing command from 14s to 15s. The only thing noticeable in regard to cattle is that prices for stores other than forward bullocks and stores are slightly easier. ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. CIIRISTCHURCH, April 3. The weekly sale of live stock was held at the Aldington slock yards to-day in fine weather and before a fairly largo attendance. Sheep were in good supply, and fully up to recent sales, and fat and store sheep and fat lambs were all well represented. The yardings of cattle and pigs were moderately good, and the quality offered seemed about equal to the demand. Store Sheep.—The yarding of store sheep was large, and, the bulk of the entry being ewes, iambs and wethers were only in small quantities. On the whole, the quality of. the section was only medium, but the demand was good, and a good clearance was effected at prices up to the previous week's values. Lambs and wethers sold well, and the supply was apparently not up to requirements. The range of prices was —two-tooth cv.es, 14s to 17s; two and fourtooth, 14s to 16s 6d; two, four, and sixtooth, lis 6d to 16s; six and eight-tooth, 14s 6d; sound-mouths, 7s ld to 13s 6d; aged, 6s 3d to 8s 3d; lambs, lis 9d to 12s 2d ; forward stores. 8s 6d to 10s 6d; small, 4s 9d to 7s 6d; wethers, lis lOd to 15s 3d. Fat Lambs. —There was a slightly smaller I entry of fat Ja.mbs as compared with the j previous week s sale, the figures being 7498, | as against 8029 —a decrease of 531. The I quality all round was uneven, and there was a large proportion of inferior sorts, which met with a poor reception. The sale | started well, and anything good was keenly i competed for all through, but towards the ! close the bidding weakened off a lot for second-rato stuff, and there was a comparatively largo number of parsings. The fact of the near approach of the holidays, with the consequent closing of all works for a couple of days, fully accounts for the passing of inferior quality lambs that would suffer greatly in condition by a small delay in the slaughtering operations. The orices ranged from 12s lOd to 19s lCd; tegs, lis 3d to 13s 3d; and ordinary freezers, 12s 10d to 18s. Fat Sheep.—There was a large yardincr of fat sheep, all classes being represented. There was some competition between exporters and butchers, but prices were on a par with late rates. The range was: Prime wethers, 17s to 20s 7d; others, 14s 9d to 17s; prime ewes, 13s to 17s ld; others, 10. s lOd to 12s 6d; merino ewes. 9s 8d to lis ld. Fat Cattle. —The yarding of fat cattle totalled 244 head, as against 172 on the previous week. The quality of the yarding was about on a par with that of last week, and, as before, cows predominated. Values remained steady at lato rates, and the range of beef prices was 21s to 26s per 1001 b, according to quality. Steers realised £6 17s 6d to £l2; heifers, £6 to £lO ss; dry cows, £5 to £9; and extra, to £ll ss. Vealers. —There was a small yardine: of veal calves, the prices ranging from 5s to £3, and for one specially big calf the price of £4 15s was obtained. There was a poor yarding of store cattle and a weak demand, and the passings were heavy. Dairy cows were inquired for eagerly, and realised up to £ll 15s. Pigs.—There was a slightly fuller entry of fat pigs, the bulk being very good useful sorts, and prices were steady at late rates. Choppers made 60s to 110 s; heavy baconors, 603 to 745; lighter sorts, 52s to 59s —equal to sid per lb. The porkers' sale opened well, but eased off later. Heavy sorts fetched 42s to 50s, and lighter 35s to 40s —equal to sjd to 6d per lb. Stores were in good supply, but the demand was very uneven. Large stores brought 35s to 41s 6d; medium, 22s to 30s; and small, from 18s. Weaners made 9s 6d to 13s. LIVE STOCK AND PRODUCE MARKET. Burnside, Wednesday, April 3 Fat Cattle—l9B head yarded.
