MILBURN and CALARENDON.

April B.—The weather for the past work has been splendid, and the farmers havetaken advantage of it to get on with tho harvest. Most, of the crop is cut, a good lot is in stack, while a large proportion is in stook. A little has been threshed, oats yielding up to 100 bushels to the aere. and wheat a !o: loss. With a fortnight's good vroathe-r nearly all the grain will be gathered in. Concert.—A concert '>vas held in the Clarendon Hall in aid of the school pia.no fund and was largely attended. The programnic was supplied by the Dresden Piano Company, Dunedin. and the different artists met with a flattering reception.. an<l at the conclusion, on the motion of the chairman (Mr A. P. Grey), were accorded a hearty vote of thanks. A dance was held after-

wards, and was largely attended, music being supplied by Mr Johnston, Mr A P. Grev being M.C. The receipts were very creditable, enabling the committee to pay off! the balance owing on the piano. Industrial. —Ballasting has been completed on the Dominion Lime Company's tram line, the cooler has been erected, and the manager expects to put out lime in about six weeks. The Mission.—A fair number from this district have been in to the ChapmanAlexander mission in Dunedin, and nearly all enjoyed the meetings very much. Easter Services—The Easter services in the Milburn Church were conducted by Mr J. Wilkinson in the morning and Rev. Cuttle in the evening. The evening service was largely a song service, several of Alexander's hymns and choruses being rendered by an augmented choir. Personal.—Messrs J. A. Duthie and Co. conducted a clearing sale of Mr M. Henderson's furniture and effects, when there was a large attendance. Regret is- expressed at Mr Henderson's intention of leaving .the district, he having taken a leading: part in educational and political matters here.
