Isitt, M.P., to-day, and discussed his position with reference to the compulsory clauses of the Defence Act. . After hearing Mr Isitt's views, the council realised that there had been a misapprehension as to his position in reference to the Defence Act, and they have now decided to abandon their intention of opposing him in the forthcoming campaign. A meeting of the National Peace and Anti-militarist Council was held-this evening. Mr Walter Scott Bedford, president of the Wellington League, was present by invitation. It was arranged, that the Anti-military Conference be held at Wellington on November 9 and 10, The secretary reported the intention of the various leagues to send delegates, and generally spoke of the interest that had been aroused throughout the Dominion regarding this gathering.
