MILITANT ANTI-MILITARISTS.
RECONCILED TO MR ISITT. OHRISTCHURCH, October 16. A deputation from the National Peace Council waited upon Mr L. M. Isitt, M.P., to-day, and discussed his position with reference to the compulsory clauses of the Defence Act. . After hearing Mr Isitt's views, the council realised that there had been a misapprehension as to his position in reference to the Defence Act, and they have now decided to abandon their intention of opposing him in the forthcoming campaign. A meeting of the National Peace and Anti-militarist Council was held-this evening. Mr Walter Scott Bedford, president of the Wellington League, was present by invitation. It was arranged, that the Anti-military Conference be held at Wellington on November 9 and 10, The secretary reported the intention of the various leagues to send delegates, and generally spoke of the interest that had been aroused throughout the Dominion regarding this gathering. The portunity will be taken while the delegates are present to hold a big anti-military demonstration in the Capital City.
