FRANCE AND GERMANY
CLAIM FOR COMPENSATION. BERLIN, August 10. An officially-prompted news agency states that France offers the hinterland of the Cameroons from Labe Chad to the section with a line running eastward from Libreville, the capital of the French settlements on the Gulf of Guinea. LONDON, August 10. The Times’ Paris correspondent says that the negotiations have not yet led to any basis for a final agreement, but Germany has abandoned her claim to the entire French Cohgo, and the negotiations Lave reached a more reasonable phase, with a possible exchange *in certain regions of the French Congo for regions in the German Cameroons. German claims, however, in this regard are still considered excessive.
