THE ANTARCTIC

LONDON, January 25.

Dr Mackay etated in the course of an interview that he intended to start for Graham Land in August, and would be absent two years. A relief ship will meet the party at the great ice barrier, or Hut Point; but if the ship is ice-bound the party will cross Ross's ice barrier for S'hackleton's or Scott's huts and replenish their supplies.

Dr Alister Mackay submitted to the Royal Geographical Society plans to explore the coastline of Graham's Land to King Edward VII Land, in Antarctica. He estimates the cost of the expedition at £20,000. Dr Mackay suggests that there might possibly be arranged a connection with Dr Brace's expedition. He proposes that the expedition should be restricotd to six men, three sledges, and 24 dogs, and that it should rely on the Weddell Sea for most of the food and fuel.
