WELLINGTON WING WHISPERS.

By Peter Pan.

October 28. Dear Pasquin,—Ben Fuller lias derailed for Sydney, and reports says that he will make arrangements for new artists and novelties fur his firm’s circuit for the Christmas season. The new picture house and skating jink which is being built for the firm in Palmerston North is approaching completion. The Nellie Stewart Company concluded its season on Wednesday evening, when “Sweet Nell of Old Drury” was played befcrc a packed house. Miss Stewart was given a cordial farewell at the conclusion of Iho play, the curtain being raised numerous times in answer to the plaudits of the crowd. Miss Stewart’s popularity does not seem to wane. The company left for the south yesterday. The Plimmer-Dennistop Company commenced their season last night in most unfavourable weather, but nevertheless there was a very large audience. The new firm has a capital opening bill in “The Passing of the Third Floor Back,” and the papers are unanimous in praise of it. Mr Harry Plimmor plays The Stranger, and it is conceded the best thing he has done. Mrs Robert Brough had a warm reception on her reappearance here. “I.over’s Lane" will be the next niece staged by the company Mr diaries MacMahon arrived from Sydney on Wednesday. He has acquired the New Zealand right® of the film of “The Squatter’s Daughter,” and it will be first shown in Dunedin about Christmas time. Mr MacMahon has also the .Tohnson-JefF-ries’ fight picture, and they will bo shown here for the first time on the 17th November. Mr MacMahon tells me that things theatrically in Sydney and Melbourne are booming, especially in Sydney, which Mr MacMah on characterises as a wonderful show place. He saw Miss Katherine Grey in “Paid in Full,” and says it is a very fine play with a truly American atmosphere. He thinks it will be very popular in New Zealand. “The Whin” (Williamson) and “Tho Winning Ticket” (Anderson) now being played in Melbourne, Mr MacMahon says, are stupendous productions, and are drawing like the proverbial plaster. The

picture shows in both cities are also doing bJK business; in fact, showmen all seem in a very prosperous_way.
