GORE SPRING MEETING. (Fkom Our Special Reporter.) First Day—Wednesday, October 26. A boisterous wind and showers were in unpleasant evidence for the first half of the card on the opening day of the Gore Racing Club's spring meeting, but the latter part of the afternoon became pleasant by comparison. Mr H. M-'lntyrc acted as starter, and the majority of his despatches were of a very disappointing nature. Some interesting racing was witnessed, but the handling of a couple of horses should have landed their riders on the carpet. There was a lairge attendance, and during the day £4789 was put through the totahsator, or £IOO7 in excess of last yoaT's amount. Bookmakers' fees amounted to £l9O. Adage and Warsaw were the smartest to begin, but the latter dropped back, amd Waiju joined the first-named as they out of the straight. Going along the back Field Gun tailed off, and Adage and Waiju were showing the way to Stratagem and Ronaldshay. whilst Warsaw was lying in their immediate wake. Turning for home Warsaw moved up, and once in the straight ranged alongside Adage. A punishing finish took place between the pair, and although Warsaw had his head in front a few strides from the post Adage got up again, and made a dead* heat. Waiju was about two lengths away.
