CHRISTCHURCH MARKETS.

(Peh United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, November 1. There is still only a/ small amount of j business passing in whent. The wool stores ; in town axe now cleared of their stocks of , grain, and the farmers who are holding wheat are less anxious than before to .'Jell I in view of the extremely dry season teat is being experienced. The only buyers are j shippers who have space to fill in the last '' two steamers that have been arranged for to take wheat at a low freight. No sales of any consequence are- reported, but 3s to 3s Id are the best prices offered for good to i prime wheat. I Oats aire still very firm, but the recent 1 advance in prices has reduced the demand from the North Island. A line of 10CO bushels of B grade Garfons has been purchased at Is lid at a 2d station for local ; consumption. There are very few oats offering, and in view of the scarcity of feed in some of the country districts the supply for outside orders is limited. iPotatoes are still dea.rer, and some merchants have had to give up to £lO per ton for Derwents at country stations. They are mostly odd lots of a few bags offered, and the market is almost over for the season.
