SHOOTING.

A shooting match was fired on the Lawrence range on Wednesday between tha Tuapeka Mounted Rifles and the Waitahuna Rifle Club. The conditions were ten men a-sidie, 'and seven shots at 200 and 500 yards, with an optional sighter. Scores:

PORT CHALMERS NAVALS. The Port Chalmers Naval Artillery fired the final competition of a. match for prizes presented by Major Dodds, Mr F. W. PLatts, and Captain Cashman. This was also the final for the Champion and Handicap Aggregates. The conditions were: Champion Aggregate—Nine competitions, seven to count. Handicap Aggregate— Nine competitions, seven to count, handicaps includ'Cd; added to that is a match of 10 shots at 600yds, all firing from scratch. Prizes —aggregate—Three coinpetitions, two to count; 10 shots at 300 and 500 yards. The contest for the Championship has been very interesting, and a close finish was expected. Gunner Keenan, who was leading Sergeant Montgomery by 2 points, lost a point at 300yds, making a difference of only 1 point when they started at 500yds. Hero Sergeant Montgomery, who was in good form, put on the possible, while Gunner Keenan responded with 45, thus losing the Championship by 4 points. Roth competitors were heartily applauded when they finished shooting. Sergeant Middleditch, who had a good lead for the Handicap Aggregate, fell away considerably, Corporal Reeves, who put on 48 at 600yds, beating him on a. tie. Good scores were made at 500yds by Gunner James Montgomery (49) and Q.M.S. Facer (48). Appended are the highest sec-res and aggregates:
