AUSTRALIAN RAILWAYS.
BRISBANE, April 21. Tne Minister of Railways has taken an important forward step in the direction of a transcontinental railway through Western Queensland, linking up Port Darwin with the railway system of- the Eastern States. He has ordered future surveys to be followed by trial surveys for the extension of the Queensland system north and west of Mount Elliott, also from Cloncurry to Camoowea 1 and Burketown.
