FEDERAL ELECTIONS
SYDNEY, March 16. Nominations of candidates for th« Federal Parliament closed to-day. Tha following have been returned unopposed: Messrs Glynn (Attorney-general), Oilman (New South Wales); and A*ehib*.si (ex-leader of the South Australian St»te Labour party). March. 18. The Federal election campaign is in fall swing in ail the States, and parties a.r* working hard. Some strenuous conte.-ta are promised. The Labour Council negatived a motion that all unionists .cease ■ work at dinner time on polling day. --The supporters of the motion alleged that in many cases the bosses refused to allow the men time to go to the ballot box, and that a cessation of work would stimulate interest in the election. Their opponents argued that the motion really meant a. genera] strike, and would be giving side -a big. handle. Eventually it w.is decided to ask the Government to declaro a half-holiday on polling day. BRISBANE, March 17. Speaking at Maryborough, Mr Fisher prophesied that he would soon be leading a Labour Ministry. •■ ~'
