DEAL IN JEWELLERY
LONDON, March 17. Eggena and I>% Milo, the -well-known music-hall posturers, have been committed for trial. The cress-examination of the witnesses in the prosecution suggests that the defence will be that the prisoners obtained the jewels which form the subject of the charge against them for the purpose of selling them to the King of Portugal's suite during his recent visit to London. •■ La Milo, Ferdinand Eggena (her husband), and Percy Easton (a motor car agent) were charged at Bow street last month with obtaining £7OOO worth of jewels by false pretences from W. Wood, jeweller, of Brook street, London. It was alleged that Eggena represented himself as the owner of 25 care, and obtained the jewels, which he after-M-ards pawned on La Milo's behalf. Eggena had previously attempted to pawn a pearl neeklac-3 worth £30,000. The accused were remanded. Esgena being 1 allowed bail of £2OOO. Easton £2OOO, and La Milo £SOOO.
