PREFERENCE TO FINANCIAL UNIONISTS.

CHRISTCHURCH, March 10.

The Arbitration Court to-day had to consider an application for a renewal of the General Labourers' award, to which both parties had agreed. The judge, however, objected to the clause giving preference to financial members of the union over non-financial members, and said the parties could enter into an industrial agreement on the matter if they chose to.
