WHOLESALE ROBBERY.

PALMERSTON N., March 7. In- connection with the recent wholesale robberies of household furniture five charges of house-breaking were preferred against Jos. Bowelka at the S.M. Court to-day. A further charge of breaking and entering the residence of Mr Harold R. Cooper, Queen street, and stealing therefrom goods valued at £l7 on July, 27, 1907, was also preferred against the accused. It is rumoured that a still mora sensational charge is pending in refer* ence to the destruction of Miss Mackay'e dressmaking establishment in Campbell street. Miss Mackay's house was burnt) down while she was away on holiday, and on her return her suspicions were aroused by finding no trace in the ruins of certain ruga and an eiderdown quilt.
