FURNITURE FOR GOVERNMENT HOUSE. " WELLINGTON, March 3. A deputation from representatives of the furniture trade employers and workers waited on the Minister of Public Works (the Hon. S, M'Kenzie) this afternoon and urged that the furniture for the ne\V Government House should be manufactured locally and not imported, as tha deputation understood was the intention of th.e Government. •
The ; Minister, in reply, said that the Government had no intention of ordering furniture from abroad except for three rooms out of a total number of 70. Tenders for furnishing the remainder would be invited in due course in the four centres.
