NEW YORK, January 21. Believing that the shortage of cattle in the stock-raising- States was not wholly responsible for the high price of beef, 11,000 heads of families in Cleveland pledged themselves to abstain from meat for 60 days The labour unions helped forward the boycott, which within a few days spread throughout the Mississippi Valley. .The price of meat in Cleveland has already declined. The boycotters now exhort tire people not to pay beyond 30 cents per dozen for eggs on the ground that the cold storage supplies are being withheld. January 23. A Federal suit has been initiated against the Beef Trust at Chicago under the Anti-Trust Law. Over one million persons in America are now pledged to abstain from eating meat. Boston has joined the movement. The price of b&ef in the State of Ohio has been reduced 15 cents (7-Jid) per 1001 b.
