SHOOTING WITH INTENT.

MAN COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. AUCKLAND, January 10. At the Police Court this afternoon George White was charged with having discharged a loaded revolver at F. S. Workman on the 22nd ult. with intent to do him grievous bodily harm. The man Workman in his evidence stated that he had known the Whites for about 10 months. When Mrs White came to Auckland she went to live with her : sister at Kingsland. On the evening of December 22 witness and Mrs White were walking in the street, when White approached and said to his wile, “ Where | have yon been, and what have you been ! doing with this man?” At the same , time he caught his wile by the arm and drew a revolver from his pocket and presented it straight at witness. Witness caught his hand, and pushed him, whereupon the revolver went off. They then had a struggle, in the course of which the accused said to witness, “ You have ruined my life, you dirty : black cow, and I will ruin you, ’ and at the same time kicked witness on the side. Just after this the police came , along, and locked White up. The facts, according to Sub-inspector Hendrv, were that White and his wife lived 'at Stratford, and with them Workman as a boarder. Later, the Whites came to Auckland, and Workman also came to Auckland. It was a short while after Mrs White had come to town that White, allegedly as the result of suspicions concerning the behaviour of his wife and Workman, one evening on meeting his wife and the lodger walking along the road, drew a loaded \ revolver and presented it at Workman. Subsequently to his arrest White made a statement respecting his domestic affairs, said Sub-inspector Hendry, and a good deal of sympathy seemed to be due to White, it all that he ; alleged were true. j Accused was committed for trial.
