ECLIPSE OF THE SUN
LONDON, January 5
The task of officially- observing the forthcoming eclipse of the.sun will be left to Australia. The Imperial Government will not send an expedition, but a joint committee of the Royail Society and the Royal Astronomical Society will lend instruments.
A total eclipse of the sun will take place on May 9, and will not be visible in New Zealand. The southern limit of the total phase will be 148 deg I.4min E. longitude, 47deg- 6.2Bmin south latitude, at 6.5 p.m.
