BABY ORCHID WHICH IS BEYOND PRICE.
A baby orchid set upon a stand in a bed of moss at the Horticultural Society’s flower show in the grounds of Holland House, Condon, collected the largest crowd of enthusiasts in the whole exhibition. The baby orchid is the offspring of Coohlioda noetzliana. and Miltonia vexillana. It has been named Miltonioda Harwoodii. Th© lip of what it is hoped will b© th© founder of a new family is a pale flesh pink, while th© sepals and petals are a warm shade of rose. The growers, Messrs Charlesworth, asked the value of baby Miltonioda,, replied:—“lt is impossible to fix it; it is Invaluable. If we said £IO,OOO wo should not bo far wrong.” Lalia Purpurata alba, the fine Brazilian orchid, with snowy sepals and petals tinged with mauve, was priced at £250.
