I N.Z. AMATEUR ASSOCIATION. OTAGO CENTRE. The annual meeting of the Otago Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming j Association was held on Wednesday, Mr J. A. Park presiding. Tidey, C. Brent, C. M'Nulty, W. Betts, J. Hosking, F. Garr (Cromwell School), A. Good. D. C. M'Gill, E. P. Knight, J. H. Walker (Tokomairiro High School). It will bs seen that several I of the country schools have taken advan- ( tage of the centre's offer to hold classes, ; nnd give fh?ir scholars instruction in swim j ,ming, and it has given us great pleasure to forward the certificates as stated above. !At the championship meeting, held at I Timaru on February 12, 1909, Mr A. M'Milleun, the only represraubative from an Otago Club, was successful in securing a place in the Mile Championship, and also break ing the New Zealand standard for that distance, his time being 27m in 28 3-ssec A big effort is at present being nuada to revive the Otago Amateur Swimming Club this season, and we feel sure that the efforts of those that have the matter in hand will result in the formation of a strong club, and, providing that we have good weather ■for the coming season, the movement will I possibly add considerable interest to the question of baths in Duned.in. The report was adopted. The following officers were elected : — President, Mr J. A. Park; hon. secretary, Mr E. H. James; treasurer. Mr A. Cannon ; handicapper, Mr A. M'MiUan ; auditor, Mr T. S. Tomhnson; delegate to New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association ' Council, Mr Ken. Bassett; looal consul, Mr F. Butterfield; Southland consul, Mr R. B. M. M'Kay; vice-president to the N.Z.A.S.A. Council, Mr C. F. Greenslade; club delegates — Invercargill Club, Mr J. C. K. Sibbald; Otago Club, Mr T. Tomlinson and Mr E. H. James. It was resolved that the sum of £!4 4s be sent to Christchurch. being subscriptions due for the Invercargill and Otago Swimming Clubs. It was resolved — " That the secretary revise the system and prepare circulars for the approval of the centre, dealing with the schoolboys' championships and medal competitions for the coming season."
