The Mafia gang at Palermo, in broad daylight, in a public square, assassinated the American detective Petrosini, who was investigating- their connection with the jßluek Hard Society in America. Petrosini defended himself with his revolver, and received many wounds. He had done more than any one man in the United tstatea to bring Italian criminals to justice, NEW YORK, March 15. Potrcsini - s murder caused a sensation in New York, where there were 23 Black Hand outrages in 1908, including bomfothrowin,<r, ar.«on and assassinations. Apparently a group of blackmailers was n«in^ the sign of the Black Hand, ■ and not with any political origin or aim. '
