CHINESE RAILWAYS
PEKING, March 9. Dr Morrison, The Times' coriespondent, has visited the Shanghari, Hang-chau, and Ning-po /ailway. He states that the million arid a-half of British money is being squandered, owing to the Chinese j disregard of the provision "of the contract j requiring British supervision and the use of British material. Every important stipulation of the financial contract is being violated. March 12. Dr Morrison, The Times' correspondent, gays that a German syndicate is loaning £3,000,000 for the construction of the noitheru half of the Canton-Hankow railway, which is a direct violation of the agreement of 1905, whereby British capital and Briti.-h material must be used. It is also in disregard of the British-German agreement of 1898 defining -the two ' Powers' respective spheres of railway interest.
