INVERCARC4ILL RETURNS. (F*OX OT7B OWK COSRESyoNDBNT.) INVERCARGILL, January 17. The Polioe Court returns for 1908 have now been completed and &how an increase both in convictions and persons charged) on those of 1907. Theft cases, chiefly owing to the large number of juvenile convictions, show the alarming increase of 59 convictions— Bs in 1908, as compared with 26 in 1907. Drunkenness, curiously enough, comes out exactly equal with 88 convictions in each year, but prohibitions ordeis have decreased from 57 to 45.
