WALLABIES ENTERTAINED.
LONDON, Japary 7. The Mayor of Windsor entertained the Wallabies (Australian Rugby teajn), who visited the castle. They leave Liverpool on the 23rd for America, where several matches have been arranged. January 10. The Wallabies defeated. England by thro© tries (9 points) to one try (3 point*). The ground was in splendid condition, and a very fast game took place. There were nearly 20,000 sne-ctato;?. The Wallabies put practi( ally their best team in the field. Moian wa*- absent owing to lameness.
Tb& start was sensational, Mobbs, of I/eioester, scoring a brilliant- try in the first minute. Row (Australia) obtained a lucky try 20 minutes later, the ball screwing away from an English three-quarter, who was trying to touch down. The scores w-ere level at half-time. The play was exciting in the second half. Russell soared a try by followirg up a higih punt, and the same player secured another brilliant try in the last minute after some splendid passing by the three-quarters. The Wallabies' victory -was due chiefly to splenrdid scrum work by the forwards, ■who almost invariably secured the ball, giving the outsiders many fine openings.
