WELLINGTON, January 10." The weather was dull and cool for cricket yesterday. The light failed as the afterjlooh wore on, and stumps were drawn half an hour earlier than usual. The Gas Company put up 212 in their first innings against Phoenix. Sayne contributed 59, Waugh 38, and Topp 25. C. Hickey captured six wickets for 56 and Gibbes four for 68. Phoenix had one wicket down for §2 when stumps were drawn. Midland made |49 ftgainst Wellington, and of these C. fiiCksdn made 49, Bruce 27. and Wynyard Ivy Hales took seven wickets for 75 runs abd Quinn three tor 35.
