Messrs Wright, otephenson, ana tjo. report as follow: — We held our weekly sale on. Saturday last, when we offered a good entry of medium draught and light harness Shoree. Amongst these were several good useful sorts, which sold readily et prices ranging up to £40 for draughts and £24 10s for light harness sorts. There was a large attendance of the public, town contractors being well represented, also country buyers desirous of supplying their wonts for the a-pproaehing harvest ; consequently bidding was _ keener than for several weeks past. With one or two exosptions all the country consignments found e«w owners at good values. A. number of JigM~ harness animals were xdisposed of at satisfactory prices. Good young *ctive horsas of all descriptions are selling well at the present time.> Seiorday's auction was' meet satisfastorv. and the prosipects are good for our annual harvest horse sale, which will take place on Friday, 22nd inst. Quota- j tions: Superior yount? draught geldings, at j from £45 to £50; extra good do (prize-winners), at from £50 to £55; superior young draught v mares at from £50 to £60; medium draught mares and geldings, at from £30 to £40 : aged do, *t from £15 to £20; well -matched carriage pairs, at from £70 to £100; strong springvan horses, at from £25 to £30; milk-cart and butchers' order-cart horses, at from £18 to £35; light hacks, at from £8 to £13; ! •xtra good hacks and harness horse*, *t , from £13 to £25; weedy and aged do, at from £5 to £7. PROPERTY SALES. Messrs Jamea Samson and Co. held a successful sale by auction at their rooms , on Monday, when they offered several city ' and suburban properties. The first lot , offered was on account of the Public Trustee in W. Gilmour.'s estate, being sections 50 and 51, block 111, with a frontage to , Frederick street, with a four-roomed and I a two-roomed cottage thereon. Bidding started at £300, and coon rose to £430, when Mr R. Aitken became the purchaser. On account of the Public Trustee, j in the estate of Mrs Dickinson, section 1, j block XV, Asootvale, North-East Valley, ' •was sold to Mr Perry. Mr Sutherland's ! freehold property, No. 11 Ellis street (off ', Cumberland street), with a four-roomed cottage thereon, was sold to Mr Aaekoy for £250. Mr King's freehold section, Normanby street, township of Gordon, North-East Valley, with a modern four- ; roomed dwelling thereon, was sold to Mr Woodhouse for £450. Mr Campbell's freehold property in Glenaven, with a nice 5- > roomed d welling thereon, was purchased ! by Mr Todd for £480. Mr Sutherland's freehold property in Cumberland street, containing six rooms, was passed in,^ and those in search of a modern house can see { this privately. A Wellington message states that three valuable Clydesdale horses consigned to j the New Zealand Government arrived at j the Cornwall on Saturday. The animals will be landed at Dunedin. According to the Nelson Evening Mail's j correspondent, the hop crop at Upper Moutere will be only a small one. It is described as "backward and straggling," and not more than 75 per cent, of the usual quantity is expected.
