GRAIN AND PRODUCE SALES.

Messrs Donald Reid and Co. report:—We held our weekly auction sale of grain and produce at our stores to-day. Our catalogue was not large, but comprised most of the lines in demand at present. Under fair competition nearly all the lots offered were quitted at prices on a par with late quotations.. Values/ruled as under: — Oats.—The ' demand has been very slack during the pa^t week, and no sales of any importance can be reported. The shipping inquiry lately experienced for prime Gartons has not been sustained, while for othsr sorts the business has chiefly been small focal eal-ee. Quotations: Prime milliner, Is 7£d to Is 8d; {food to bast feed, Is 6Jd to Is 7d ; inferior to medium, Is 4d to Is s^d pej bushel (sacks extra). Wheat.—There is little change to report. The arrival of Australian wheat reported laat week has had a slightly injurious effect on sales of local milling lines. Fowl wheat is offering more freely at prices a shade below late values. Quotations: Prime milling, 4s 6^d to 4s 7£d; medium and best whole fowl wheat, 4s 5d to 4s 6d; medium fowl wheat, 4s to 4s 4d; broken and damaged, 3s to 3s 9d per bushel (sacks extra). Potatoes.—No old Dobatoes are coming forward, the season for these being practically et an &nd. -Early sort« ane in fair demand at £6 to £8 per ton, according to quality. Ohaff.— The market is moderately supplied, and crime oaten sheaf has good demand at £3 15s to £4 per ton (bags extra). Medium Quality is more difficult to sell at £3 to £3 10s. while inferior and discoloured at £2 5s and £2 15s has few customers. Straw.—Quotations: Oaten and wheaten, 37s 6d to 40s per ton (pressed).
