j (Lyttelton Times, December 5.) ~ ' Business in grain continues very restricted, and few lines have changed hands since lasc report. The offerings are mainly confined to small parcels, holder* in some instances being desirous of olea-r-ing • out their stores before harvest. Thebusiness done, however, has been of a hand-to-mouth description, and it is diffi- ' cult to say what would be the consequence on values were any large parcels placed on offer for immediate sale. Several parcels have been shipped north duringthe week, but at present ihere is practically no speculative buying, purchases being made principaly" to fill orders. The week's sales included 150 sacks Hunters at 4s lid, 150 sacks Hunters at 4s 2d, and 60 sacks Tuscan at 4s 2d, all on trucks at country stations There is still a good d-tmand for fowl wheat, and sometimes difficulty is experienced in filling orders. Oats are still in slack request, current , 1 prices ranging from Is 6d to Is 7d on i trucks at country stations. '< Chaff i« little sought after, and prices ( are weaker, current values being £2 159 to j £2 its 6d on trucks 'at country stations. j Old potatoes are now practically off the j market, and new season's are coming in freely, the quality being uniformly good. Bran £4 15s, pollard £6. Seeds. — Ryegrass, light 2s 6d to 2s Bd, heavy 3s to 3s 6d, cocksfoot 63d to Bd. Dairy Produce. — Cheese, dairy, large 6£d, loaf 6d; factory, large 52 d to 6d.
