Mr J. A. Boreham placed the following on the board the other evening: — Mr F. P. Smith, in July Draughts World, Game 2198, "Old Fourteenth," at sth move of'var. (b), has following" ' position — Black : 13, 18, 20. White: 21, 28, king 19. Mx Smith playa 19 16, with a drawn result, but 21 17, 13 22, 19 15. and White wins. Mr Boreham also points out that Mr veal a terms in Problem "2627 can be upheld against Mi Fraser's play. After the Bth movtf-tb* position is— Black: 8, 11, 16, king 24. White: 10, 20, 21, king 6. Mr Fraser plays 10 7, and Black draws, but 6 2 wins for White, and keeps Veal right. Mr Hilliker writes:— Re Game 6618 (published last week), played between Mr Scott and myself, the notation is faulty. The 54th mov-6 should read 8 4, and at 60th mow play should proceed 10 7, 22 15, in place oi 10 15, 22 17, as published.
